Recalled Products Lead to Questions of Safety

by Administrator 29. July 2009 01:54

Many of the products that are recalled seem to lead to more questions of "what is safe for our children?".  Many products that are recalled do not seem dangerous at all in many cases.  Most of the time it is found that some flaw in the design, which  may not have been noticed at first, could lead to horrible events.

It is scary to think about how many dangerous products are out there with safety problems that have not yet been identified.  Because of this,  it is important to follow consumer reports on products that are purchased for your children.  Keeping up-to-date with the latest information on child recalls and safety information is an important step in providing protection.

Children Clog Shoes Recalled Because of Dangers

by Administrator 22. July 2009 09:04

A recall has been issued for many children's shoes that were sold to retailers across the United States.

The shoes featured cartoon characters resembling Disney Cars, Transformers, and Barbie.

The shoes were determined unsafe after it was found that the decorative wheels that adorn the side of the shoes can detach.  Once the wheels detach from the shoes,  they present a choking hazard to young children.

Over a million of these shoes have been sold since they first became available in August of 2007.

Babies at Greater Risk for Significant Head Injury

by Administrator 20. July 2009 07:41

Babies and young children are at nearly twice the risk of head injuries compared to children of other age groups.  Head injuries are a major problem for babies as the injuries can cause serious and irreversible effects at a young age.  The heads of babies and toddlers are not as formed,  and thus are more likely to sustain serious injury.

Many of the head injuries are attributed to a lack of parental supervision around the house,  however many head injuries can occur because of a variety of reasons.   Car seats that are not properly designed are one source of head injuries.  Poor supervision at day cares or other locations is another significant cause of these types of accidents.

It is important to take all the necessary steps to ensure this type of injury never occurs.

A day care driver in Milwaukee has recently been sentenced to 15 months in prison following a trial in which he plead guilty to the charges against him.  The man faced charges for an incident that took place in April in which he left a young boy in the day car vehicle by accident.

The young boy would eventually die from hyperthermia after being left inside the vehicle for an extended period of time.

The man originally faced a longer prison sentence, however since he plead guilty and expressed remorse his sentence was not as severe as it could have been.
